Abstraction: It is known that shale formations are known for their chemical interactions with water-based drilling fluids, which can lead to swelling, bit drilling or even the closure of the wellbore. As a result, water-based, ecological fluids with inhibitory characteristics are required for drilling shale formations. The purpose of this study is to provide a deeper understanding of drilling through shale formations, providing several approaches under different circumstances. Many inhibitors developed to date are presented with the present shale inhibition mechanism. It seems that mud mud silicates and thermally activated emulsion mud emulsions (TAME) are the best option to alleviate the problems associated with shale, but more research is needed to ensure a permanent solution to this very complex issue, especially in the HPHT Terms.
