This paper describes the concept of 5G and its predecessors. The authors conducted an analysis to identify the advantages and disadvantages of the new technology. The work contains a list of requirements for 5G, the results of tests and studies, examples of new technologies, which are based on 5G. Future applications of the technology are also considered.
