Assessment of the Contribution of Innovations to the Environmental Friendliness of the Economic Activity of Russian High-Tech Enterprises

The transition from a technogenic type of development to a sustainable one is the primary task of modern society. To this end, it is necessary to actively introduce innovations into production processes and develop high-tech enterprises. Organizations of this type, basing their activities on the use of advanced technologies and obtaining unique production results, are able to significantly influence various spheres of society, as well as the state of the environment. In this paper, an econometric analysis is carried out and the nature of the impact of the level of innovation of high-tech enterprises on the environmental component is studied. The study examines data from 22 Russian high-tech companies from various fields of economic activity and examines how companies’ in-vestments in R&D, energy consumption and environmental protection costs affect the level of pollutants released into the atmosphere, water consumption and the amount of waste generated.
