The persistence of crisis phenomena in the economy over the past decade has led to a systematic decline in the level of real incomes of the population, and the nominal growth of average wages, benefits and pensions is mostly an indexation that does not always cover the annual inflation rate. Since 2020, there has been an intensification of the crisis in the economy and a concomitant acceleration of inflation, which caused a drop in the standard of living of the population, an increase in poverty and unemployment. In the conditions of the crisis and the dynamic depreciation of the ruble, one of the directions of state policy is to maintain the level of well-being of the population. In the course of the study, the differentiation of incomes of the population of the Kursk region in 2018-2022 is assessed, trends that have developed under the influence of the crisis and their causes are identified. It is established that the real per capita incomes of the population have not shown dynamics to increase in the last 5 years, which suggests an actual decline in living standards. In 2022, in the Kursk region, more than 60% of the population had an average salary of more than 25 thousand. rubles, and more than 60% of the total income of the population falls on two 20 percent groups with the highest level of income in the region. The volume of actual final consumption of the population of the region has increased by 40% over 5 years, but at the same time, in relation to GRP, the indicator has decreased to 60.5%. In general, the socio-economic situation in the Kursk region is stable, despite the continued dynamics of falling real incomes of the population, the level of socio-economic differentiation remains at the same level.
