Assessment of the dynamics of socio-economic development of the Kursk region

The article provides an economic and statistical assessment of the dynamics of socio-economic development of the Kursk region in modern conditions. The relevance of this work is determined by the fact that in conditions of changing macroeconomic and geopolitical situations, issues of ensuring sustainable socio-economic development of regions are especially relevant and significant in order to ensure national and economic security of the state, smoothing the existing differentiation of regions in terms of their level of development, and the effective use of existing potential. The purpose of this study is to assess the socio-economic development of the Kursk region for 2018-2022 using key indicators characterizing the pace of economic growth, the structure of the region’s economy, foreign economic activity, demographic situation, investments in fixed assets. The authors considered the dynamics of indicators characterizing the change in the volume and structure of the gross regional product, the share of investments in the structure of the gross regional product, the index of changes in the volume of investments in fixed assets compared with the previous year, the total population and the total fertility rate, the demographic burden in the Kursk region for 2018-2022, the volume of exports, imports and foreign trade turnover of the region for 2017-2021. The study revealed the following: in 2018-2022, the volume of gross regional product increased by more than 47.5%, and the dynamics of this indicator per capita for the corresponding period of time exceeds the corresponding values of other regions within the Central Chernozem macro-region; in the structure of the region’s economy, there is an increase in the share of agriculture by 5.8% with parallel a decrease in the share of mining and manufacturing industries by 8.18 and 5.66 percent, respectively, in relative comparison. In 2017-2021, export volumes increased significantly: an increase of more than 162% in dollar terms.
