Assessment of income and structural changes in employment in rural areas of the Altai territory

The paper reveals the dynamics of reducing the number of employees of large and medium-sized organizations located in rural areas of the Altai territory. The rate of decline in the number of employees of agricultural organizations in 2008-2019 exceeded the rate of decline in the number of employees of organizations in other sectors of the rural economy. Every second rural resident was employed in the system of education, health care, and public administration, which indicates the stagnation of the real sector of the economy. The degree of significant structural shifts in rural employment over the period 2008-2019 was quite high. The region is experiencing localization of small-scale production in agriculture against the background of the creation of large intensive enterprises in poultry, pig and dairy farming. Our grouping of agricultural enterprises revealed a higher level of wages in large organizations. In rural areas, the average wage in all industries varied insignificantly, the coefficient of variation did not exceed 9.77-14.93 %. At the same time, the change in the structure of employment by industry did not significantly affect the change in average wages.
