In the context of the unstable state of the world economic systems, the basic aspects of ensuring the financial security of the banking sector are one of the key areas of anti-crisis regulation aimed at reducing the negative impact of global financial shocks on the national economy. This article discusses the issue of assessing the financial security of a credit institution, which is relatively new and relevant for research within the framework of domestic scientific developments. Most scientists are of the opinion that ensuring the financial security of a commercial bank is a process that ensures the performance of certain functions of planning, regulation, analysis and control, which are aimed at countering possible external and internal threats to ensure the sustainable development of the bank. The authors considered a methodology for assessing the financial security of a commercial bank, which includes: analysis of financial stability and financial reliability as components of the financial security of a bank, calculation of the general reliability ratio, instant liquidity ratio, cross-ratio, general liquidity ratio, capital protection ratio, stock capitalization gains. When assessing financial security, methods of horizontal, vertical (structural) analysis were applied, based on financial reporting data in the form of financial ratios. Based on the results of the study, conclusions were drawn that allow identifying the main types of threats to the financial security of a credit institution, on the basis of which proposals were developed to ensure the financial security of a commercial bank.
