Kyrgyzstan is a mountainous country. And it’s not for nothing that this small country of Central Asia is often compared to one of the European ski resorts, Switzerland, since Kyrgyzstan also has a huge potential for the development of this sport. The geographic location and a large elevation difference determined the extraordinary nature of Kyrgyzstan. The climate is very favorable for alpine skiing: snow lasts from November to March, and in the highlands - year-round. The weather in most mountain resorts is usually warm, with many sunny days, so the ski season lasts from early December to early March. Thanks to all the factors listed above, Kyrgyzstan is a great place for lovers of alpine skiing. Quite a large number of bases can be visited without leaving far from the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek. The most famous ski resorts are “Noruuz” (altitude 1950 m, 30 km from Bishkek), “Orlovka” (100 km from Bishkek), Kashka-Suu (altitude 2000 m, 35 km from the capital), tourist center Oruu-Sai (2100 m, 35 km from Bishkek), and others. One of the best ski resorts can also be visited traveling around the Issyk-Kul lake. The most famous among them is the ski base "Karakol" (2300 m, 7 km from the city of the same name). Almost all ski resorts are equipped with cable cars and trails of various levels of complexity, which is well suited for both beginners and professionals.
