Assessment and ways to increase the competitiveness of a construction organization

The issue of competitiveness is relevant for many enterprises in the construction industry, since, having sustainable competitive advantages and skillfully using the existing potential, the organization will be successful in the market. Currently, there are a large number of construction enterprises operating in Russia and, according to experts, in subsequent years the construction market will tend to increase. Accordingly, there will be competition in the market between various organizations and their products (work). Therefore, it is very important for construction organizations to assess their competitive advantages, promptly pay attention to shortcomings in the organization’s activities, and adequately and timely respond to changes in factors in the internal and external environment of the enterprise. The article examines the essence of the categories «competition» and «competitiveness» and presents methods for assessing the competitiveness of a construction organization. Based on data from one of the organizations in the Sverdlovsk region carrying out repair and construction work, an assessment of its competitiveness was carried out using the method of SWOT analysis and analysis of M. Porter’s five forces of competition. As a result of the assessment, advantages and disadvantages in the organization’s activities were identified, and possible directions for increasing the efficiency of its activities were proposed to ensure competitiveness in the construction market.
