In practice, three maintenance strategies are used in different sectors of the economy: reactive (RM), planned and preventive (PM) and predictive (PdM). The dominant one is the preventive strategy, within which a number of methodologies are developed, focused on reliability, quality, risk reduction, etc. For agricultural enterprises, a predictive maintenance methodology is proposed, focused on the transition to PdM. The methodology is aimed at predicting the failure of machine elements and determining the correct actions for maintenance and repair. This allows for a balance between service frequency and cost. To evaluate the effectiveness of predictive maintenance, a cost minimization model and a reliability assessment model are proposed. The goal of the cost function is to minimize the long-term expected rate of cost at a given stage of the machine life cycle for its maximum duration. There are five cost components identified for predictive maintenance. The reliability assessment model uses the availability factor as a criterion. The indicator demonstrates the availability of machines in conditions of continuous degradation of machine elements, taking into account the improvement of maintenance. The reliability assessment model seems to be a more accessible and accurate tool for assessing the effectiveness of the implementation of predictive maintenance methodology.
