Volgograd oblast eco-economic condition assessment

The necessity to observe human influence on our environment is impugned neither by theorists, nor by experts. The article authors have elaborated territories’ sustainable development indexes and indicators, which take into account the anthropogenic influence on the environment. However, these indicators demand statistical data, include subjective estimates and they not always enable making adequate conclusions. The research suggests an extended decoupling analysis model in order for the regions’ eco-economic condition to be analyzed comprehensively. The researchers have assessed Volgograd Oblast’s eco-economic condition according to the suggested model, analyzed the economic, ecological and social indicators. Special attention has been paid to the analysis of pollutants emissions. Finally, the authors propose conclusions on the expediency of applying the suggested decoupling analysis model to monitor the regions’ eco-economic condition and correct regional socio-economic development strategies.
