The assessment of the quality of life in the patients admitted to RISC "RTO" with the congenital "cosmetic" deformities of the legs has been made before surgical correction and after it. 19 patients undergone deformity correction by the method of transosseous osteosynthesis have been questioned. The studies made show that coming to the decision of surgical correction a patient expects more to improve attractiveness in the opinion of the people of his or her environment, to get rid of the complexes with regard to his or her body image, to become more uninhibited, sure of himself or herself than to correct the "defect" of body image. However, favourable changes in body image achieved by making cosmetic surgery can only give a subject additional possibilities to improve the quality of life but not to solve all the problems at once.
