Evaluation of collection samples of winter soft wheat for breeding in the Middle Volga region

The article presents three-year results of the study of the collection material of winter wheat of different ecological and geographical origin in order to identify genetic sources of valuable traits suitable for obtaining new varieties in the Middle Volga region. According to the results of a comprehensive assessment the average for years of research the best survival and productivity were varieties: Povolzhskaya 86, Povolzhskaya Niva, Eritrospermum 3627 (VSRISSG), Crystal, Juno, Zimnitsa (KSRIA) and Marathon (RSRIGC). The released varieties were used as parental forms in crosses.
