Assessment of medical and demographic trends in the context of strategic priorities of socio-economic development of Russia and Western Europe

Preserving and strengthening the individual and public health of the population is one of the state priorities in modern conditions. The comparative assessment of disease burden and risk factors in relation to strategic objectives is becoming an important management tool in the health sector. Research of positive experience of noncommunicable and especially cardiovascular diseases (CVD) prevention is especially actual in the conditions of growing epidemic in Russia. The purpose of this article is to assess changes in the burden of cardiovascular disease over the period 1990-2017 using data from the Global burden of disease project. Comparative analysis of the effectiveness of CVD prevention programs in Russia and Western Europe is one of the objectives of the study. Based on the analysis of the main strategic documents and programs for the prevention of CVD in Russia and Western Europe, it is shown that the strategic goals and target indicators are largely the same.
