Assessment of the development potential of the machine-building complex in the digital economy

The results of the development of the machine-building complex in modern Russia, the phenomenon of deindustrialization and loss of realized segments of the domestic market, reorientation to the preferential import of machinery and equipment instead of its own production are considered. The loss of competitiveness of machine-building enterprises occurs against the background of a weakening of their material and technical base, the withdrawal of funds from enterprises, including depreciation, and the implementation of a non-innovation policy. The relevance of the research lies in the special significance of mechanical engineering as a large complex industry that produces tools for various sectors of the economy, consumer goods for the population, machinery and equipment necessary to ensure the country’s defense capability. The machine-building complex is of great importance for the effective formation and implementation of industrial policy - it is through its enterprises and products that the results of scientific and technological progress are materialized. Objective: to identify trends in the production of machine-building products in order to increase their competitiveness in terms of innovation, to reveal the nature of current discussions on the methods of technical development of enterprises in the digital economy, to propose measures to improve the efficiency of management and increase the share of the target market. The methods include a deep retrospective analysis of the series of dynamics of production indicators for certain types of products and types of economic activity, methods of statistical grouping, mathematical modeling. As a result, significant prospects for increasing the volume of production of machine-building products, strengthening their competitive positions, and increasing the profitability of operations are shown. The prospects for increasing the production potential of manufacturing industries are linked to the formation of its innovative content, corresponding to modern challenges of science and technology, social dynamics, the international division of labor and the formation of value flows, the explosive growth of information flows carried out by industrial policy instruments.
