Performance assessment of IPv4 and IPv6 routing protocols

IPv6 is considered the most promising protocol for complex and distributed network applications in the IoT. However, its adoption in industry, especially in smart manufacturing, has been slower than expected. Although the benefits of IPv6 for industrial IoT technologies are widely recognized, its use in practice is associated with certain difficulties. This paper provides a qualitative assessment of IPv6 and the replacement of IPv4 with IPv6.
