Assessment of the prevalence of use of electronic smoking devices in different age groups in the Kirov region

In recent years, there has been a steady upward trend in the use of electronic smoking devices (in particular, electronic cigarettes and hookahs) in the Russian Federation, especially among adolescents and young people. This phenomenon is accompanied by the formation of a distorted view of the safety of vaping. A study conducted on the prevalence and characteristics of the use of electronic smoking devices in various age groups of the population of the Kirov region showed that almost 70% of respondents have experience smoking vapes or hookahs. The largest proportion of smokers was found among people aged 19-30, while the 31-50-year-old group was dominated by a longer period of use. Of particular concern is the underestimation of the harm of vaping among adolescents.
