The article suggests a probabilistic approach to assessing the quality of a plan for selecting a new object from a set to verify its suitability for further use. The indicator of the quality of the plan is the probability of detecting a defective object in the initial set for a given sample size. The number of an object that is defective is represented as a discrete random variable with integer values. The uniform and binomial laws are considered as the distribution law of a random variable.
