Assessment of demographic threats and their impact on the country's economic security

The article examines the threats in the demographic sphere of Russia, their impact on the economic security of the country as a whole. Demography is an important element of the country’s economic security, since problems in this area can have serious consequences. Demographic changes affect basic economic growth rates, structural productivity growth, living standards of the population, savings rates, consumption and investment; it can affect long-term unemployment and interest rates, housing market trends, and demand for financial assets. The most serious threat to the country’s economic security is that if the structure of the population changes as the workforce shrinks (population decline and population aging) and increases in social security spending for citizens in need, the economy may slow down. Russia at this stage is experiencing problems in the demographic sphere, which reduces the level of economic security. In this connection, the search for ways to improve the demographic processes in the Russian Federation is an urgent topic. The purpose of the article is to study the main trends in the demographic sphere of the Russian Federation and their impact on the economic security of the country. The leading methods of researching the problem of the article include the analysis of theoretical sources, analysis of statistical indicators, comparison. The article analyzes the demographic processes in the Russian Federation, it is concluded that there has been a trend towards a decrease in the birth rate in the Russian Federation, the population, an increase in mortality, a decrease in migration, which reduces the level of economic security in the country. In this connection, it is necessary to take effective measures to improve the level and quality of life of the population of the Russian Federation.
