Assessment of food security level in the Krasnodar Krai as a risk identification tool in the context of global challenges

An assessment of food security level in Krasnodar Krai is presented in the paper. It is argued that the efficiency of agro-industrial complex development determines the level of economic and food security of the country and its regions. An analysis of the socio-economic development of a territory is highlighted by considering two interrelated components – economic and social. Special mention is made of the important role of the Krasnodar Krai in providing foodstuffs for the Russian population and calculating the region's contribution to Russia's overall production of certain types of agricultural products. The structure of gross agricultural output in the Krasnodar Krai has been analyzed. Through analysis of investment in agriculture in the region, the need to attract additional financial flows has been established. The assessment of the physical and economic availability of food products has been carried out. The necessity to intensify the export-oriented policy of the state on agricultural raw materials and food has been substantiated.
