Assessment of mountain ethnosystems stability as the basis for ethnic nature management of mountain depressions (Uimon depression as a case study)

The paper considers the issues of nature management of mountain territories on the basis of ecological-geographical assessment of economic effect of different ethnic communities on mountain-depression geosystems. The notion of mountain ethnic geosystem as a form of spatial-temporal systems that includes natural and social-ethnic subsystems was justified. Much attention is given to methodical approaches for the assessment of an ethnosystem as an important component of the ethnogeosystem. The peculiarities of functioning of the Altai and Russian peoples' mountain ethnogeosystems are shown by the example of the Uimon depression in Altai.
