In the modern conditions of development of economic systems, the issues of determining the potential for further economic development, identifying growth reserves, determining trajectories for improving economic policy are becoming more relevant. The above issues are particularly acute at the level of mesoeconomic systems, as components of the national economic system of Russia. The purpose of the article is to assess the impact of investments on the economic development of the mesosystem (using the Republic of Tatarstan as an example) through the analysis of the investment coefficient and determining the time lags of the gross regional product and investments in fixed assets. The article uses such methods as description, trend analysis, regression analysis, index method, cross-correlation analysis. According to the results of the study, it was found that the increase in investment in fixed assets in the same time period contributes to the increase in the gross regional product, in addition, this causes multiplier effects and in the next time period the increase in the gross regional product due to primary investment also continues to grow. The obtained results of the study and the conclusions made on the basis of calculations and modeling have practical value in terms of identifying the multiplier effects of economic development of mesosystems. The proposed toolkit can be expanded, supplemented and tested using the example of other mesoeconomic systems and the national economic system of Russia as a whole.
