Today, the economy continues to be “overheated”, which is accompanied by increased sanctions pressure and high rates of price growth. The current situation has dealt a serious blow to business, since the market situation contributed to a reduction in the volume of production and economic activity and its efficiency. The study assesses the crisis on the financial state of large businesses in the region using the example of 10 largest business entities in the Kursk region in the period 2021-2023. It was found that the change in the foreign policy environment in 2022 had a negative impact on the state of the largest business entities in the Kursk region, which led to a noticeable decrease in revenue and net profit, as well as the level of profitability. However, by 2023, the region’s business managed to adapt to the new economic conditions, as a result of which the indicators began to grow again. According to the results of 2023, the largest enterprise in the region was LLC «Miratorg-Kursk» with revenue of 65.1 billion rubles, and LLC «Agropromkomplektatsiya-Kursk» is the leader in terms of net profit - 7.3 billion rubles. The general trend is the continued high degree of dependence on borrowed resources, since in all enterprises, except for JSC «Russkij Dom» and LLC «Kursk-Agro» in 2023, less than 50% of the total volume of sources of property formation accounted for.
