The authors estimate the antagonistic activity toward fungi pathogens, nitrogenase and growth stimulative activities of three bacterial strains of Azotobacter genus isolated from soil. In field experiments the effectiveness of presowing treatment of the seed of spring soft wheat by strains of bacteria-antagonist for protection from root rot was determined. It was shown, that the use of Az IB 1, Az IB 3 and Az IB 4 strains the wheat crop capacity increase by 1,34; 2,84 and 4,34 centner per hectare, respectively, protein content in corn - by 2,8; 2,8 and 6,1 %. The effectiveness of biological protection comprises 31,81-54,54 and 10,42-16,6 % for 45 day of vegetation and 105 day of growing, respectively. The use of Az. vinelandii strains is promising means for creation of biopreparation against root rot.
