Assessment of the impact of social and economic development on regional demographic processes

Level of social and economic development of the state has a considerable impact on the medico-demographic processes happening in society. In our country demographic problems are especially relevant for northern regions where the high mortality and incidence and also rapid reduction of resident population is noted. The purpose of this article is integrated assessment of the impact of social and economic development on regional demographic processes in the northern region (on the example of the Republic of Karelia). In work the main demographic problems of the republic are defined: reduction of population, structural demographic changes, low birth rate, high mortality and migration processes. On the basis of official statistical publications («The municipal Units of Republic of Karelia») 30 indicators characterizing various aspects of regional development were selected.
