The estimation of the modification of the rat radiation injury by the cytotoxic serum

Бесплатный доступ

The effect of polyvalent antireticular cytotoxic serum (ARCS) produced by the hyperimmunization of rabbits by composition of rat tissues, such as the bone marrow, the spleen, lymph nodes, the thymus, the liver and the thyroid gland, on a clinical course and the outcome of the acute radiation sickness was studied in experiments with Wistar rats. Statistically significant increase in 30-day survival rate up to 66.7 % (with 18.8-13.3 % in control groups) due to activation of metabolic processes (shortening of the time before beginning recovery of body mass of irradiated rats from 20-25 to 5-10 days) and acceleration of the hematopoiesis recovery estimated by bone marrow cellularity, leukocytes and reticulocytes content in the peripheral blood were observed.after administration of stimulating doses of ARCS to rats right after gamma irradiation (8.0 Gy with dose rate of 81.48 cGy/min).
