Estimated physical-and-mathematical models of gas thermodynamics and scattering cross-section of the aircraft jet-vortex wake

A review is given of several simple models of the airplane jet-vortex wake and its scattering properties. The models are developed by the scientific teams of TsAGI, MIPT and Almaz-Antey Concern. The evolution of the wake shape and the spatial distributions of gasdynamic parameters are determined by numerically solving the simplified system of Navier-Stokes equations and the model of three-dimensional interaction of jets and vortices. The results are used in calculating the scattering cross-section of a «warm» jet of an engine, with account taken of turbulent pulsations of gas parameters.
