The article contains a background and a brief overview of the spread of African swine fever (ASF) in Europe and Asia, examines the transformation of the ASF epidemic into a global pandemic, as well as the impact of the ASF pandemic on the number of live pigs, pork production, prospects for vaccination that can resist ASF, and the possibilities of the Russian, American and Chinese virological schools. The results of clinical trials of the ASF vaccine in three provinces of China and Vietnam are presented.
