The essay constituent in Solzhenitsin's creative thought

The article is devoted to the specificity of Solzhenitsin’s memoir-autobiographical prose. The essay segment, through which a stable genetic relation is established between the writer's creativity of the 60-s and the experience of the theoretical and literature-critical thought of the second part of the 30-s, is regarded as a structural focus of his prose. A. Solzhenitsin inherits the methodological foundation of essay prose formation with its typical intragenre interaction of the document-journalist and autobiographic narration strategies. The value and sense basis of this process is the “vector of high exactness” of the author’s thought. Genetic memory of literature is naturally supplemented in Solzhenitsin’s prose by the so-called "memory of the genre", which was fully and deeply researched in M.Bachtin's works.
