Protection of Russian inventions, of utility models and industrial designs abroad

The article describes a method of protecting property rights, as a patent. The main procedural features of foreign patenting under the PCT (international patent system) are analyzed, including the stages of international filing of an application for Russian inventions, utility models and industrial designs, international search and a written report of an international publication, as well as international preliminary examination. It is indicated that the result of foreign patenting under the PCT procedure is not the issuance of an “international patent”, but a more reliable assessment of the Applicant’s chances of obtaining a patent in the national and regional Patent Offices based on the submitted international application.
