Protected mammal species of Middle Amur river region

The mammal fauna of Middle Amur River region counts up to 76 species. About one half of the species are situated close to their ranges’ borders or have those borders right in this region, and the majority of these species are rare. This fact is the reason for including them in the Red Data Books both of regional and state level. The significant part of species on their ranges’ perifery is considered a specific feature of Middle Amur River region fauna that is regarded as mixed and transient between boreal and nemoral fauna with considerable influence of steppe in the south.
