October revolution: how it was

The author of the proposed article set himself the task of examining socio-economic problems during the establishment of Soviet power, the negative consequences of certain political events, overly radical decisions of political leaders of that period, which are making themselves felt at the present time. The author pays special attention to the famine and economic devastation unfolding in the country, which has become one of the main factors in the beginning of the revolution. It was hunger, for the most part, that spurred various sections of the population on robberies and robberies. The article also raises the theme of the tense relations of Soviet power and the Cossacks in the first years after the October Revolution and the Civil War. Despite the already established stereotype of "the counter-revolutionary essence of the Cossacks", the researcher tries to argue with it, backing up his position with archival materials confirming that it was the Soviet government that provoked directly or indirectly the Cossacks to counter-revolutionary actions. The author of the article draws attention to the fact that the decisions and actions of the Bolsheviks towards the Cossacks were sometimes unacceptably cruel and inhuman, and had a direct character of genocide. As a result the number of Cossacks was reduced more than 5 times. All these facts heavily influenced the history and culture of the Cossacks and required many years of revival and restoration.
