The ontological foundations of myth: defining the problem

The article presents a new direction for investigation of myth ontology. That is the search for ontological foundations of myth; this search leads the researcher beyond the limits of myth as such, since the ontological foundations of myth lie outside the myth. The analysis of archaic myth transformation demonstrates the gradual losing of its ontological foundations as early as in the epoch of ancient civilizations that allows one to define the borders of archaic and modern myth on a new level.
