The level of remuneration of medical personnel in the public health sector is rather low, and working conditions are difficult, which together form the low attractiveness of this sector for personnel and indicate an unfavorable economic situation in the industry, since there is no actual opportunity to provide a decent level of remuneration due to funding gap. A factor of the improvement of the situation in domestic healthcare was the beginning of a pandemic in 2020, which led to the need to attract a large number of financial resources to the industry, a significant part of which was directed precisely to pay medical personnel, since there was still a shortage of personnel, and the level of staff motivation was low. In the course of the work, an analysis of the dynamics of the average salary in the healthcare sector in Russia was made in comparison with other types of economic activity in the period before and since the start of the coronavirus pandemic as an indicator of the state and development of the industry; the results are compared with the trends in the number of medical personnel and the provision of the population with them. The study found out that the average level of remuneration in healthcare maintains a steady upward trend, however, as before, it is at a lower level than the average level of remuneration in the economy. This indicates that the country’s economy is developing faster than the healthcare industry. The coronavirus pandemic played a big role in improving the economic situation in the industry, as most sectors of the economy experienced a recession or stagnation, while health care has seen an increase in growth dynamics, which is confirmed by the growth rate of the average wage in 2019-2020.
