Abstact. The article presents methods for determining the characteristics and performance indicators of devices for converting solar energy into thermal energy. The purpose of the study is to describe the methodology for calculating the efficiency of the solar collector. The method of analysis of literature sources, synthesis has been applied. The calculation of the coefficient of heat loss of the solar collector is performed by the method of successive approximations. For the purpose of analyzing the method for calculating the efficiency indicators of solar collectors, solar heat supply systems and the processes occurring in them have been studied. As a result, a methodology for calculating the energy efficiency of a solar collector have been presented, which includes the calculation of such indicators as the optical efficiency of the solar collector, the efficiency of absorption of solar radiation and the coefficient of heat loss. The presented model for calculating the energy efficiency of a solar collector can serve to justify design decisions in the development of solar collectors.
