The article proposes a method for determining the location of damage on 6-35 kV overhead power lines with an insulated neutral. The method involves using a modernized unmanned aerial vehicle designed to search for damage sites. The introduction describes the need to create such a method. Remote methods on the lines under consideration are difficult to implement, so a method with an unmanned aerial vehicle was proposed. The materials and methods describe the process of measuring zero-sequence currents in the line using special instruments that the search team uses to search for the damaged area. Coils from these devices must be installed on the drone. The results and their analysis present a 3D model of the modernized unmanned aerial vehicle. A program code has been written that is designed to determine the location of the fault using the current readings measured by the coils. The conclusions provide advantages and disadvantages. The advantage is the ability to search for any types of damage automatically. Disadvantages include the inability to use the device during bad weather and the influence of interference from the drone’s engines on the accuracy of determining the location of the damage.
