The majority of rural electric networks of 6-10 kV today are made ring, operating in normally open mode and partitioned with the help of disconnectors, which does not allow for automatic control of the configuration of such networks when the situation in them changes, for example, when a short circuit appears on one of the network sections. This leads to unjustifiably large, from 1,5 to 10 hours or more, interruptions in the power supply of consumers, which, when supplying electricity to agricultural consumers, causes violations of technological processes, reduced productivity of animals and poultry, underrelease and damage to agricultural products. The implementation of the principles of automatic configuration management of rural electric distribution networks allows to reduce the number and time of interruptions in power supply, but requires the introduction of «intelligent» switching devices into the electric networks, for example, reclosers that are increasingly used in rural electric networks. One of the principles of configuration management is the observability of the network, which is provided by technical means for monitoring, controlling and accounting for the parameters of the operating modes of electrical networks. Ensuring the observability of the network requires knowledge of the parameters of its operating modes, knowledge of the numerical values of currents and voltages that characterize a particular operating mode of the network. Knowing, in particular, the values of shortcircuit currents in the network allows you to remotely determine the area where the short circuit occurred, correctly configure the relay protection and automation equipment used in the network. There are a number of methods that allow, knowing the values of shortcircuit currents at various points of the network and the sequence of their appearance and disappearance, remotely, without using special communication channels, to determine the results of the switching devices installed in the network. This allows you to implement the principle of network observability even in the absence of communication facilities, or if they fail, disconnect for any reason. The article considers a real electrical distribution network, for which the calculation of the currents of twophase and threephase short circuits at specified points and specified situations is performed.
