Identification of elastase 1 level for evaluation of pancreas exocrine function after pancreoduodenal resection

The article features functional results of 42 pancreoduodenal resections. Pancreas elastase 1 was analyzed in patients' faeces to evaluate pancreas exocrine function. Elastase 1 level enabled objective identification of exocrine pancreas inefficiency and timely appointment of substitutive therapy. Most patients proved stabilization of proper pancreas functioning within a year after surgery.
