Optimization of the performance properties of diesel fuel using additives in the operation of machine and tractor units

The article considers the possibility of using additives based on linseed oil to improve the antiwear properties of diesel fuel. The reasons for the short resource of parts of the fuel system of diesel engines are described. It has been established that the antiwear properties of diesel fuel affect the resource of precision interfaces of fuel equipment units. Insufficient lubricity of fuel is the main reason for the low life of injector nozzle parts. The reasons for the decrease in the lubricity of the fuel associated with the introduction of EURO standards are given, which led to a decrease in sulfur compounds, and thereby reduced the lubricity of the fuel. The purpose of this article is to compare the performance properties of commercial diesel fuel and fuel with an antiwear additive based on vegetable oils to increase the lubricity of diesel fuel, while meeting the requirements of GOST 325 and ensuring a high operating time of precision interfaces of diesel fuel system units. The fuel indicators that affect the processes of evaporation, mixture formation, combustion and wear are given. The results of studies of the physicochemical and antiwear properties of diesel fuel with additives based on tall flax oils (TFO) are presented. The influence of additives based on linseed oil on the indicators characterizing the antiwear properties of the fuel (density, kinematic viscosity, surface tension, friction coefficient, wear) was assessed. It is concluded that it is possible to use additives based on flax oil to increase the life of injector nozzles. As a result of the research, it was found that when the TFO additive with a mass content of the additive up to 5 percent is introduced into diesel fuel, the density and viscosity of the composite fuel slightly increase, but remain within the limits recommended by the standards for summer diesel fuel.
