Optimization method for computation of TIR optical elements based on quick raytracing procedure

New optimization method for design of axisymmetrical TIR optical elements generating the prescribed narrow-angle irradiance distribution is presented. The method is based on the developed quick raytracing procedure including approximation of the optical surfaces by a set of truncated cones. As an example the optical element producing uniformly illuminated circular region with angular size of 60° is presented. It was computed and simulated for extended Lambert light source 1x1 mm. The light efficiency of optical element is 91.5 % and the relative root-mean-square error of generated irradiance distribution is less than 5 %.
