Experience of geomechanical monitoring of Tomskaya pisanitsa in 2022-2023

The article is focused on the problem of conservation of the Tomskaya Pisanitsa rock art site. The authors consider natural and anthropogenic forms of destruction noted by experts in different periods. The paper presents the results of a surveying the technical condition of the solid rock and its geomechanical monitoring conducted at the site in 2022-2023. These activities included petrographic studies of rock samples from the main accumulation of Tomskaya Pisanitsa and from the area intended for experiment; monitoring the impact of seasonal events; laboratory studies of the chemical and elemental composition of atmospheric precipitation; studying the stressed state of the solid rock using acoustic sounding; monitoring the magnitude of crack opening and increasing erosion depth using the instrumental method; geodetic and mine surveying observations of solid rock deformations; and the assessment of the impact of seismic activity. To conserve the rock art site, the authors recommend that a number of preventive measures should be taken and monitoring at the site continued.
