In this study, we developed and implemented several stages of student training in educational activity of a pharmacist to promote healthy lifestyle and rational use of drugs on the example of hormonal contraceptives. We also provide the results of the population survey on the awareness of the risk factors of thrombosis associated with oral contraceptive intake. We found that 42.4% of women use oral contraceptives; of them, 78.8% have one or more risk factors for thrombosis; 48.5% are not aware about the existence of such factors, 39.4% are not aware about the existence of contraindications; and 75.8 % are not aware about possible suppression of the life of the human embryo by contraceptives. Our findings suggest high relevance of educational activity of a pharmacist to promote healthy and rational use of drugs, as well as the need to train students in accordance to the professional standard ‘Pharmacist’. This work of a pharmacist can contribute to the preservation of human health and the implementation of the priority project of the Government of the Russian Federation ‘Forming a healthy lifestyle’ (‘Public health promotion’).
