An experience of applying geoinformational databases in analysis of entomofauna of Baikalian Siberia

The paper discusses the issue of the GIS-technological information support of the investigations related to biological diversity of the Baikal region. To this end we have elaborated a geoportal http://geos.icc.ru. A geoinformation database of needle-chewing insects has been elaborated. The paper discusses the pos-sibilities of its application for obtaining ecological-faunistic estimates, which, on the one hand, are of scientific interest and, on the other hand, are needed in organizing the works bound up with protection of forests.
