Basing on archival documents and published resources the article describes social support organization in Siberia during the Russo-Japanese War (1904-1905). The author presents information about the decrease of living standard and social status of a significant part of the Siberians, also focusing on key points of social support, such as its measures and forms, criteria of provision, its availability level, and funding sources. The author comes to the conclusion that the main objects of state targeted support were orphan children and needy families of front-line soldiers. In the context of weak state regulation, the sphere of social support was formed under the influence of local conditions and local understanding that created differentiation in its level and availability terms.
