Relevance of the paper owes to an opportunity for Russia nowadays to make use of practices of the past in addressing an issue of social adaptation of physically challenged people, former participants of combat operations. The purpose of the study was considering practices of arranging vocational training and employment assistance in the Kuban Region in 1941-1945 for people injured during the Great Patriotic war, and the task was bringing to light the content and general directions, formats and techniques of interaction used by the officers of social welfare and health care institutions, with support from the Communist Party apparatus and State authorities and public organizations in solving the problem of occupational rehabilitation for the disabled war veterans. The matter of study was development of the State system of social welfare and rehabilitation for the disabled in 1941-1945, procedure of occupational rehabilitation of disabled war veterans in the Kuban Region. The study has resulted in demonstration of major part taken by the State and Party and public authorities of Krasnodar Kray (Region) in resolving problems of job placement for the disabled veterans of the Great Patriotic war.
