Organization of the first exhibition of livestock in Western Siberia in the early XX century

In connection with beginning of arraying by the autocracy a new agrarian policy, as expressed in the transition from the prohibitionist policy to the support policy for a resettlement and the land holding, became acutely felt the need to organize the broad and effective agro-technical and cultural aid to the population of Sibe- ria. With this goal, in 1902, for the first time, by the members of the local Committee of the Special Meeting on the needs of the agricultural industry was expressed an idea of holding of the First West Siberian Agriculture, Commerce, Industry and Forestry Exhibition. That exhibition was supposed to show, primarily an agricultural growth as the main basis for the national good, the country eposes wealth and the industry of Western Siberia in the past and the present, and find out how resettles were able to raise the economic and cultural significance of the region. The greatest attention of visitors attracted the largest pavilions representing the general science, agri- cultural machines, dairy industry, resettlement case and cottage industry. Special attention should be paid to the Livestock Department of the Exhibition, more precisely to the entrance to it, along with other, a sub-unit of cat- tle. Its exhibits showed that cattle ranching in Siberia reached in a relatively short period of time a significant development.
