Organization of psychiatric and substance abuse treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis patients in modern conditions

After 20 years of decline epidemiological indices, reflecting the prevalence of tuberculosis in the 1990-ies, there has been a deterioration of the epidemiological situation in Russia. An important issue is therapy of patients with combination of pulmonary tuberculosis and mental illness. These patients tend to avoid treatment, violate the regime of anti-TB facilities. The integrated treatment of comorbidity is still not fully developed and is a subject of research. Among the patients with pulmonary tuberculosis the proportion of persons with alcohol dependence syndrome increases. The study has identified main clinical-dynamic patterns of combination of mental illness and pulmonary tuberculosis.
