In this article, the author recommends using techniques for explaining the meanings of words, which are arranged according to the degree of their developmental potential. A variety of techniques and an increase in the activity of students themselves in explaining the meanings of words is the most important task of vocabulary work in elementary grades. The article also proposes a system for conducting vocabulary work, which consists in ensuring that the word is correctly perceived by the student in the text, understood with all its shades and colors.
