Despite the widespread use, frequent use and the availability of various methods of central venous catheterization, there remains a fairly decent list of complications that can and, unfortunately, lead to adverse consequences for the patient or even death. Complications associated with puncture and catheterization of the subclavian vein, according to various sources, range from 2.7% to 11.2%, while severe - up to 1.2%. Modern data are extremely scarce due to the lack of reliable statistics. Conventionally, complications of venipuncture and catheterization can be divided into mechanical and purulent-septic. In spite of wide application and the existence of various methods of central vein catheterization, various complications do occur in performing this procedure. Materials and methods.Using Seldinger technique we catheterized subclavian vein from the subclavian access in order toperform infusion therapy. The metal guide perforated thevein, hung 180 degreeturn, and got made into a knot, catching on the lower edge of the clavicle because of a fracture formed while we tried to pass in the dilator.
