The main results and prospects of development laboratory of breeding and seed production cereals and sorghum crops

The article presents the brief results of research activities and further prospects of development of the laboratory of selection and seed production of cereals and sorghum crops FGBNU «Povolzhsky NIISS» SINCE the opening of the laboratory (1933) to the present. The role of breeders - researchers in the creation of varieties of different directions of use is noted. Over the long painstaking years (85 years), the laboratory has achieved good results in the selection of grain, forage and broom sorghum, Sudanese grass, millet and Japanese millet. Were bred and released varieties of millet: Kinel›skoe 3221, Kinel›skoe 2462, Kinel›skoe precocious, Kinel›skoe 92, Gorlinka, Krestyanka,Povolzhskoe 59, Zaryana, Rossiyanka, Povolzhskoe 80; varieties of sweet sorghum: Early amber Kinel›skiy, Kinel›skoe 3, Kinel›skoe 4; grass sorghum Kinel›skaya 90, Kinel›skaya 100, sorghum-stancavage hybrid Sarkin, hybrid forage sorghum Volzhskiy; broomcorn Kinel›skoe 67; varieties Japanese millet Perspectiva and Eureka; grain sorghum Premiera, Slavyanka, Ros›, Kinel›skoe 63.
